Welcome back to Middlesex County!Â
Great spacious parks, and animals to see.Â
The main attraction for kids at Johnson Park is feeding the animals (ducks, goats, etc.). There is a concession stand for both people and animals, make sure you save enough animal feed for the end of the fence where the goats are, we had used ours up by the time we got there, which is surprising since they give you alot.
It was at the end of the day so we did not get many shots of the playground, and there are others scattered at Johnson Park, we got pictures of the one at Grove 2, nearest to the animals. Friendly parents were there and helped my son out at the swings while I was feeding the baby. Thanks!!!
The playground is average, but was clean and occupied, and the kids enjoyed it. Restrooms are in the same building as concession stand. For more information on this Middlesex County park, click for their parks website.Â
We like Johnson Park, even though the equipment is aging. There is the playground pictured right by the zoo, then another one across a small bridge. This is a terrific place to bring bikes, as there’s a long, usually quiet, road through the park with views of the river. Tons of shade. The zoo is near the south end of the park. At the north end there is a recreated colonial village that you can walk through.
I’ve been running through the park lately and stopped by the zoo to check it out. I love what they did to the place with the fountains and the variety of animals. However I’m not happy about the coyote exhibit. He’s in there all by himself and looks miserable. Coyotes are pack animals and shouldn’t be alone. On top of that he has hardly any room to run around.
I too am very disturbed by the coyote situation and am looking into it currently.
Don’t miss East Jersey Olde Towne Village located within Johnson Park. You can’t miss it if you drive along Johnson Drive. Take a few minutes to step back in time.

WATER THE GOATS!!! – FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE OBSERVED THAT THE GOAT PEN HAS HAD 3 EMPTY WATER BASINS. WAS THERE YESTERDAY AND AGAIN THEY WERE BONE DRY. ONE GOAT ACTUALLY LIFTED IN BASIN WITH IT’S MOUTH IN DESPERATION OF WATER. LOOKED FOR SOMEONE TO TELL,BUT THERE WASN’T ANY ANIMAL KEEPER ON THE GROUNDS. HAVE REPORTED THIS TO NJSPCA. WHOEVER TAKES CARE OF THESE ANIMALS IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB. I SPEAK FOR THESE UNFORTUNATE ANIMALS. THIS IS CRUELTY!!
Today we walked around the zoo. One of the sections that has deer and some goats had water running in a bucket for an hour that we were there. Poor animals were among this flood. The gates of the facility had a lock on. I don’t know for how long these animals were wondering around these streams of water just wastingly running and making the area where animals are located looking as an ocean. Is there a contact phone number to call in cases like this?
