Phelps Park, Teaneck, NJ

near intersection of Wilson Avenue and Cumberland Avenue, Teaneck, NJ.  We park right on Wilson Avenue and walk over to the park.

We always love visiting our friend in Teaneck, and found out that it is one of the few towns we know of that have a sprinkler fountain  in most of their parks.  Phelps Park is the best from what we’ve heard in town.  They have a Parks person stationed at the sprinklers from 10AM till 4ish (need to verify with the town).

Plenty of swings and great place to grill or have a playdate!

ADDRESS: 1000 River Rd
DIRECTIONS: NJ-4 E to River Rd exit.
DESCRIPTION: Large open playground with a new spray ground and benches. There are sections for each age group but they are not very close to each other. Play areas are in full shade but a little secluded even though they are off of a main road. Great location for play dates because there is plenty of room to spread out.

PARKING: Large paved lot but a long walk to the playground. Access via side streets brings you a little closer to the play areas.
PICNICKING: Picnic tables with access to barbeque grills by permit only. Check with town for details.
HANDICAP: Two handicap swings and a paved path into the lot. Playground equipment does not have a ramp for accessibility.
CLIMBING: Corkscrew pole, rock climbing wall, repeller, monkey bars, rings, mushroom caps, rope climbing area
PLAYTHINGS: Tic-tac-toe, storefront, steering wheels, tunnels, puzzles, call boxes
SLIDES: One corkscrew, two double
SPORTS: Baseball, tennis, shuffleboard, and a town pool is also at this location
SWINGS: Four full size, four toddler, two handicap
WALKING PATHS: Paved around the park
WATER: New spray ground and all new benches
