Newport Green is located at 700 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City NJ and looks like the perfect summer spot to visit if you are in NJ and need to cool off! Thanks to Elizabeth Walden for contacting us about it, and sending these great pictures! We look forward to visiting and giving a full report soon.
From Elizabeth’s email:
“I was inspired to reach out after spending the other day at Newport Green, a brand-new 4.25-acre park in the neighborhood, with the region’s first and only urban beach, as well as the only mini-water park in the area.
With the sun shining and temps up, Newport Green was packed – and not just with nearby residents! I spoke with a few women from Manhattan, and many from far and wide NJ who drove in for the afternoon or took the Light Rail directly to Newport. I was shocked at the distance people were traveling! In speaking with parents however, it made sense: there was a strong, unfulfilled need for a playground like Newport Green.
It’s the first they knew of with multiple water-spray features; a tower with dump buckets that fill-up and sporadically drench their kids; and rows of swings, slides and climbing domes for those staying dry. But the best that kept drawing them back they said was the Urban Beach. It has the right kind of sand for castle-building (would you believe it’s from Long Beach Island?), a few dozen Adirondack chairs for lounging and colorful umbrella fixtures for shade.”
UPDATE:”NEW PIC FROM LIANA on FB”
Thanks Elizabeth, we cannot wait to visit and give our full report soon! For another review, check out Metromom’s report
