Located on Newark Ave & Merseles St across the st from Elementary School #5, Mary Benson Park will have a ribbon cutting ceremony today, October 11, at 11AM. A contact from Kompan sent us the following information:
“I first spoke with Felicia Noth, a parent representative from PS 5 (The Dr. Michael Conti School) back in the Fall of 2011.
We met at PS 5, and went over to view the playground. Her children were with her, and rather than play on the playground, they chose to play in the mud. That’s how bad it was before the pictures below.
We talked about modern design & challenging play activity and I put something together. Spring 2013, the City of Jersey City stepped in and the ball started rolling.”
Ribbon Cutting
Mayor Fulop & Councilwoman Candice Osborne for the City of Jersey City will have a ribbon cutting ceremony this Saturday, Oct 11th at 11am for Mary Benson Park located at Newark Ave & Merseles St across the st from Elementary School #5. PTA of PS 5 will have a bake sale and the JC Dept of Recreation will have a table helping kids sign up for programs. Kompan Playgrounds will have a photographer on site.
Kudos to Jersey City and Felicia for making a change and giving the kids a place to play! Â We hope that the sun comes out at 11AM today and that you get a great turnout for your event. Â We will definitely stop in to see the playground next time we are there!
