From Route 287 North take exit 47 Montville/Lincoln Park. Make a left onto Route 202. Continue on Route 202 to 1st traffic light. Make a right at this light onto Changebridge Rd. The Park is approximately a mile and ¼ on your left.
An incredibly diverse, clean, fun, well designed playground with four distinct play areas and something for everyone. It has got an ‘amusement park’ feel. It could be the largest playground in all of Morris County. It has a beautiful farm theme and tons of variety in the equipment. Tall tube slides are super-adventurous and there’s great climbing for older kids, an imaginative play area for smaller kids and hand-cap accessible swings that can hold wheelchairs. This playground is definitely a top 10! Bathrooms next to the playground would make it perfect!
Parking: Large
Picnicking: Maybe a half-dozen tables and shelter, benches throughout
Handicap: The playground area is wheel chair accessible with ramps throughout and two swings which can accommodate chairs. You need to call the recreation center or stop by as you enter the park in order to have them un-locked. The equipment centers are not entirely wheelchair accessible and they are almost all centered in mulch.
Climbing: Ladders, suspended logs, tubes, rappellers, climbing walls, spider web rope structure, helix climb, drawbridges, tire climbs, monkey bars, ramps, rings, and more!
Merry-Go-Round: Single person
Playthings: Tubes, music center with chimes, a little mall with a dairy, log cabin, barn and silo, steering wheels, call boxes, wooden race car and train
Seesaws: Four seater, single person bunny, horse, pig and lamb bouncies
Slides: Three toddler, three chute, one corkscrew tube, two huge twisty tube slides
Sports: Soccer, horseshoe pits, bocce ball courts, beach volleyball
Swings: Two handi-cap wheel chair accessible, one chair, one tire, three full size, four toddler
Other Cool Stuff: Sun dial, community gardens, teen center
Make a Day of It
Eat at the Red Barn restaurant. Take a class or enjoy open play at an indoor place like Play Your Way in nearby Riverdale, or Kid-netic. Bring your dog to the dog park on Changebridge Rd.
Thanks also to Sara for adding the wheelchair swing pic and spinny thing we missed that when we went
I live in Montville and head hear often – I do have two complaints about it though. There is NO shade, so it gets hot!! And since I have three kids and its so big, its hard to keep track of them on a crowded day. But it does have a lot to do!
This playground is pretty awesome! Not much shade and it’s size sure does . . . um . . . encourage parents to get some extra exercise, but there’s a huge slide that is tons of fun (for me AND the kids!) and plenty to do to fill up an afternoon. No one gets bored. Not even Mommy.
Wonderful playground with so much to do. The parking lot was full when we got there but you would never know it once we go to the playground. I also appreciate how clean it is kept. My only complaint is that people need to remember to close the gates, but that has nothing to do with the playground.
Ummm, is there a better address, or nearby address, or cross street, or GPS coordinates? This road looks so long on the map. Admin, could you please update your listings with GPS coordinates when an address is not available. Otherwise, great website.
Sorry, this was our toughest park to describe how to get to, if anyone has the GPS coordinates, please comment below!
Did some research on Google Earth and found the park by aerial imaging. The playground is located behind the parking lot of the Montville Twp Chamber of Commerce located at 132 Changebridge Rd., Montville, NJ. The GPS coordiantes are LAT 40.897570 LONG -74.364470.
WOW! Thanks Dave!!
All you need to do is take Route 46 West towards Montville and get off at the Changebridge Road exit, then take Changebridge Road all the way down – the park will be on your right-hand side.
We loved this playground! For those without GPS, Changebridge Rd. is very easy to miss off 46 for those unfamiliar with the area(we were in Denville before we figured out we’d gone too far!). Coming on 46 West, take the Hook Mt. Rd. exit (right after Burlington Coat Factory), make a right onto Hook Mt. Rd, make the 1st left onto (Old) Bloomfield Ave, then 1st right onto Changebridge Rd (light). The park is a few miles down on the right. Enjoy!
On my way there, live in Towaco half mile from the park. I hope she will have fun on her easter vacation.
Great playground, if a little too large at times..!!
Just a correction though, you can’t take your dog to the Montville Dog Park unless you are a member. Anyone can join for a nominal fee, but to protect the dog park and its members you must adhere to the regulations and join.
The address of this playground is:
Montville Community Playground
127 Changebridge Road
Montville, NJ 07045
Went there last week and was disappointed with the condition of the handicap swings. The wheelchairs ones were both broken and the swing had three broken clasps. As this is advertised as a handicap accessible park, I feel the swings should be checked and repaired when needed. Seemed like they were broken for a long time.
If I wanted to have my child’s birthday party here would I have to make a reservation?
