Belleville Avenue and Parkview Avenue, Belleville, NJ.
Belleville Park belongs to Essex County and borders Branch Brook Park. If you are looking for the playground in Branch Brook, the maps at Branch Brook don’t help much.  I spent the day touring Branch Brook Park, all over with my trio, not to find the playground that hobokenmetromom told me about. She tried to help as well, God bless her soul, but my directionally-challenged self couldn’t do it, but luckily we found this great find. By the way, there is a playground in Branch Brook Park and it is on Clifton Avenue. We will visit it shortly.
Back to Belleville, when asking about the playground at Branch Brook, no one we talked to knew about it, but directed us to the one that borders it, Belleville Park. A sunny park, not much shade, but some if you sit on the bricks under the trees. Take care at the tunnel caterpillar, which doesn’t make it easy for parents to retrieve children stuck in the bottom. Luckily my 2 are good climbers, so I didn’t have to fish them out. Bathroom is close by, I didn’t check it out though, I think we were still dizzy about our adventure in trying to find the other park.Â
from Ecdesignz via twitter: “Hey! I live there! Not 2 crazy about our park tho That park is dirty and there is sometimes broken glass in the play area. Not to mention some moms with potty mouths. 🙂
Also last summer I heard a kid went missing there. You get some weirdos that come over the Nwk border. “
bad rap,i also live nearby and frequent the park with my wife and two children (8/10) and on the contrary, i find belleville pk to be a very clean peaceful respectable park, uncluding corner food stores mini marts, and icecream/italian ice stores right nearby, but a ice cream truck forever in front, on silent virgile ,and i can tell you ,for i been to many parks and playgrounds living in south orange ,nutley, and essex county, and myself and my family injoys this park very much
This park is located on Belleville Avenue, close to the intersection of Franklin Ave. There is an ample parking lot that I have rarely seen full, which makes it easy to go to. There is baseball field to the left of the playground, and the playground itself is fenced in far back from the street, so you don’t have to worry about little ones running out. There is a separate toddler playground area as well. My toddler daughter has always loved it. There is a ice cream truck in front on warm days, and a few different small deli stores across the street. It was recently re-renovated (a new slide had broken, and some of the soft ground had broken) in the summer of 2013. All in all, it has all of the needs of a “good park” — ample parking, fenced in, safe for toddlers and school-aged children, “soft” flooring, easy and quick places to eat nearby. I recommend it for those who live nearby.
