My kids didn’t want to leave this playground, the day I had visited it was pretty popular even in the nippy weather. Beautiful pond right by the playground. ADDRESS: East Ridgewood Ave
DIRECTIONS: NJ-17 N to the Ridgewood Ave ramp towards Ridgewood. Take the ramp toward Ridgewood. Turn slight right onto W Ridgewood Ave. Continue to follow W Ridgewood Ave. Turns into E Ridgewood Ave
DESCRIPTION: Great handicap playground. There are two structures that are suitable for all ages. The kids can run full circle on the larger structure with access to it from the ramp or steps. There are tons of playthings, walls, and slides for tons of fun. There are tunnels and two seating areas built into the underneath of the structure. The smaller section has monkey bars with tires underneath it to help the smallest climbers.
PARKING: Large paved lot close to the playground.
PICNICKING: Tons of picnic tables in either full sun or full shade.
HANDICAP: There are four handicap swings and a full ramp at this playground. The ramp leads all the way to the end of the section with lots of things to stop and look at.
CLIMBING: Corkscrew poles, traditional climbing wall, monkey bars, wiggle poles, mushroom caps, parallel bars, fireman’s pole, wiggle poles, rock wall
PLAYTHINGS: Puzzles, telescopes, steering wheels, tunnels, call boxes
SLIDES: One double, one chute, one bump, one corkscrew, one chute, one toddler
SWINGS: Four full size, four toddler, four wheelchair, one tire
WALKING PATHS: Paved around the park
WATER: Nice pond with center fountain
OTHER COOL STUFF: This is one of the county’s several parks that hosts a dog park for Bergen County residents. The area is completely fenced in and has several tunnels and obstacles for the dogs to play in.
MAKE A DAY OF IT: Visit Color Me Mine in Ridgewood for an afternoon of creativity. Color Me Mine has over 400 bisque items to choose ranging from kids projects to wedding gifts. They are conveniently located at 254 East Ridgewood Ave. Stop by for a quick project, inquire about a class, or even get details for your child’s next birthday party.
Yes, last time we were there, the bathrooms worked, cause my oldest had to use them! Just wish there was a fence around this one, but that is my beef with most parks.
